R. Brian Smith was born August 19, 1971 in Meridian, Mississippi. He received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of West Alabama (Livingston University), where he was a member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity.
Brian obtained his law degree from Faulkner University and was admitted to the Alabama State Bar in May 1999.
In May 2003, Brian opened his own law practice in Livingston, where he has represented clients in a variety of matters, from civil litigation to criminal defense. His practice also provides counsel for matters of real estate, probate, and Social Security disability.
Brian served as President of the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit Bar Association from 2005 through 2017. He is also a 2006 graduate of the Alabama State Bar Leadership Forum. He currently serves on the Indigent Defense Committee for the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit Bar Association and the Alabama State Bar Appointed Counsel & Indigent Representation Committee.
Brian has extensive experience in jury trials, trying numerous criminal cases to verdict, as well as capital murder cases, and civil cases for both plaintiffs and defendants.
When not working, Brian enjoys bow hunting and fishing.
